This device is intended to trip the electricity supply if the current flows to earth. This will provide protection from electric shock if a person comes into contact with an electrical circuit. This could happen if there are faulty appliances being used. These may include domestic products such as power tools, hair dryers, gardening equipment, vacuum cleaners and electric mowers. Recommended to be installed when using extension cords outdoors. It is a Workplace Regulation that any handheld electrical equipment used on a worksite must be protected by an RCD.
